One day, I encountered the boat race at the lake in a German city.
The boats are getting into the goal in tern, with the shout of joy.
On the front side of them, ducks are swimming with relaxing.
They look like as if they say, “It is not my business”

I was drinking beer with looking at this scene.

After one year passed by, I tried to visit this lake again.
I also met the ducks are swimming in the calm lake, as ever.
I was wondering how many hundreds of years should pass away,
while the view of the ducks living in this lake never changed.

I was also drinking beer with looking this scene.
Only the shout of joy from the boat race of one year ago, echoed in my ears at that moment.

観客はビールを飲みながらヴィデオを鑑賞してリラックスする。
ビデオの音はスピーカー兼用の湖の写真から流れている。



ドイツ、ハノーヴァーの湖で遭遇した手こぎのボートレース。
威勢良く湧き上がる歓声とともに、次々とボートがゴールする。
その手前では鴨たちが「我、関せず」と云った様子で悠々と泳いでいる。

私はビアスタンドでビール片手にこの光景を眺めていた。

１年後同じ場所を訪れると、静寂な湖に相変わらずたたずむ鴨の姿があった。
この湖に生きる鴨たちの光景は、いったい何百年前からこのままなのだろう。

一瞬のボートレースが私たちの人生を象徴するかのように、時間は大きくゆったりと流れている。

この時もまた私は、ビアスタンドでビール片手にこの静かな湖の風景を眺めていた。
一年前のボートレースの歓声だけが耳元でこだましていた。
